The Animals

SPRING!! and my favorite chicken, and horses, and toys and......

Spring and stuff

3 minutes

Before I get into the spring-ingness of the ranch today. I want to share this photo of the beautiful morning the other day:

I sure love the sun!

Back to Spring! It was 60 degrees today on the ranch!!!

This makes my heart happy.

After working on our taxes, yes, I know, they should be done by now. Hey ! I have until April 15th so I am actually ahead of the game. Anyway, after working on the taxes and needing a break, because they aren't quite done yet ..... I headed outside.

After picking up Dog Poo for what seemed like forever ( I will spare you the photos- because I didn't take any,.. your welcome) I went to hang out with the horses. I decided they needed a good brushing so I commenced to brush their winter coats away.

First up was Moxie. Doesn't she just look so excited????

The hair came off in clumps!
Hard to tell but that is a lot of hair right there!

I attempted to get a photo of her after her brushing. I should have gotten a before shot but that would have been just too embarrassing for me.

What was funny is when she caught me trying to take this picture she promptly turned towards me and walked straight at me.

Ready for my close -up Boss!!!

Then I brushed out Jazzy. He is our old man. 28 yrs old. Which is old for a horse. He is doing well, gets a little medicine each morning and still has some go in his giddy up!

Jazzy has always had a really pretty mane. It still needs some work but I got out the tangles, the pieces of hay and other weirdythings that horses seem to always get in their manes.

Jazzy left a pile of hair too!
Please excuse his dirty hocks. He really needs a bath but I want to wait until I can get out earlier in the day and it is consistently warm. So he just gets a good brushing. ( Jazzy is the Paint)

I only brushed Jazzy and Moxie. Mav and Medic did get a little attention. I brushed out their manes and tails a bit. But I will get them next time. Though Mav was pretty much in my space the whole time.

The horses were happy when I was done because I opened up the hay feeder so they could get some good hay munching in.

I was covered in horse hair, but its not a bad thing to be covered in.

As I was cleaning up the horse brushing utensils, child number 4 was taking the dogs for a run on the 4 -wheeler. Grizz was literally on the 4-wheeler. It is his favorite spot. My son booted him off so he could burn some energy along with Aili.

Now, my favorite chicken. I am not sure why I have a favorite but this chicken has just always been my favorite. She is always the first one ready to be let out into the yard and she is just really cool looking. I call her " Little Miss". Just started calling her that one day. She has her chicken stuff together. Meaning she knows who she is and she isn't afraid to attack the day or in her case, attack the scratch I have just thrown out for them !!! LOL! She is just a cool chicken.

That is her between the two lighter colored chickens.
There she is again! She is just really awesome!

Oh! MacGyver got a new toy, ahem,,,, I mean tool!

This tool has a couple different attachments but the fun one is an electric brush that can sweep all our rocks off the car port area. It also eats through snow like nobody's business! Which will come in handy next winter. It will let me shovel the walks without hurting my back. He was pretty excited about it.

I would show you the video I took but my website isn't the best in supporting those without me posting to youtube then to the site. So these photos will suffice. It is a pretty cool contraption.

Hope you got some sunshine wherever you call home. Spring is coming and I cant wait!!! Today was awesome! Have a great weekend everyone!
