These are my favorite pair of work jeans. I am going to have to retire them soon. They have been through a lot. The button to button them at the waist has fallen off, the pocket is ripped and I have a hole in the leg from an encounter with a n hay spear. I had my sun glasses on in the barn and ran smack into the hay spear that was attached to the tractor. Lets just keep that between you and me.
I love these jeans! But alas they may need to be retired.
In other news we finally finished our dog enclosure, minus a gate as the feed store didn't have the one we needed in stock. But we finished it! YAY!!!!
We also had to move the 4 ducks and Goose Goose. They have been on the pond loving life but we were prepping for a winter storm and needed to move them closer to water, electricity and to the chickens. Makes chores much easier in the winter. So how do we move the ducks and Goose Goose???
With the tractor of course!!! Yes, all 4 ducks and Goose Goose are in the Duck Hut. No, no fowl were harmed in this process. They were safe!
See??? They love their new digs. Well, sorta, they weren't too happy to not have their pond. But it is now frozen and covered in snow.
The bees had to be buttoned up for the winter too. I am trying a new strategy and we will see if it works. I only had one hive make it through summer. We will see how they fair through winter. I am not the best bee keeper but I am sure trying to learn and " bee " better! ( Ok, sorry that was a really bad joke)
Lastly, we received our first snow storm. We got about 4-6 inches at our place. It collapsed the cover on our dog kennel. Chores take 3X's as long and its cold!!!! Horses are blanketed and heat lamps are set in the chicken coops and we have heated waterers for all the animals. The wood stove is fired up and the dogs have taken their dutiful place right in front of the stove.
One last note: Even though my favorite jeans are on their last legs I now have moved into my most favorite pant for winter. Fleece lined Carhartts! These keep me warm and toasty!
There is a wrap up of working on the ranch. Time to cut and stack wood. McGyver is building a wood shed. We have a stack of logs to cut and split. There is always something to do on the Cedar J!
