We currently have two roosters in our flock of chickens. Henry is the senior rooster, been around the longest, and Gordon, who is a youngster learning the ropes.
The other night as I was collecting eggs I noticed Henry was hiding in the corner of the chicken yard and Gordon was attacking him. We had noticed that Henry didn't seem like he was feeling great the past couple of days prior to Gordon attacking him.
Henry has been hiding in one of the nesting boxes in one of the coops.
Last night I separated the two chicken yards so the chickens, and Gordon ,cannot get into the yard and coop that Henry is convalescing in.
We will see if Henry can feel better without being beat up by the bully Gordon. Here is the interesting thing. I don't like Henry. He is a beautiful rooster but he will defend his territory and he and I have had to have a few discussions about who is the boss. I am the boss in case you were confused.
Henry and I have had a couple encounters of my leg getting attacked and Henry learning I carry a stick for protection while in the yard .
Gordon is actually a big scaredy cat and scoots away when I enter the coop. Which is how it should be. LOL!
Though Henry isn't my favorite, no animal deserves to suffer or be beat up so I will take care of the old guy. He doesn't like me picking him up and moving him around but he will get over it. I will keep you updated on the drama between the boys as the week progresses.
